[instiz] WHY IS SM'S PRESENCE OVERSEAS SO WEAK?

This isn't a hate comment or anything and I actually like SM. That's why I have a genuinely curious question.

Among the major agencies, they're the only one that still doesn't have a group that's made it onto the Billboard Hot 100. They're super strong domestically, and it's not like they're inactive overseas either and they do viral marketing and all that. So why isn't it working?

Is it maybe because their songs cater more to Korean tastes? I know their music isn't exactly weak, but relatively speaking, I just don't get why they are so weak overseas

1. The typical hater always says "this isn't hate"ㅋㅋ

2. There is no group among the SM sunbaes that hit big like Bangtan did + they don't compose nor write their own music + they lipsync + they usually just stick to the standard choreography on stage rather than enjoying themselves

7. It's not that their music won't work overseas. It's that they just push whatever they want. Also, even if they have good reactions, they don't capitalize on it

8. If you look at the idols from overseas, they are all groups that have fun on stage, are overflowing with energy and are lively

10. Do you mean North America and Europe when you say "overseas"? They are super popular in China and Japan though
