Even EXO’s Baekhyun, now under One Hundred, couldn’t escape it.
In April last year, Baekhyun released his fourth solo mini album, Hello, World. Within just five days of its release, the album sold over 1 million copies, making Baekhyun a “triple million-seller” following his second and third mini albums, further proving his popularity.
Despite his success, Baekhyun was absent from all year-end music award shows, leaving fans puzzled. His absence was even more disappointing because he had previously expressed his strong desire to attend. Baekhyun told fans on a communication platform, “I must go to the year-end award shows!” and added, “Even if I don’t win an award, I just want to put on an amazing performance.”
This raised fans’ expectations, but in the end, Baekhyun did not appear at any music award shows last year.
On the 7th, an industry insider revealed, “Baekhyun wanted to attend the year-end award shows,” but added, “However, he wasn’t able to go to any of them.”
Earlier, on the 4th, fellow EXO member Xiumin also shed light on issues with SM Entertainment. While announcing his new album, he stated, “I tried multiple times to meet with broadcasters to perform on music shows for fans, but KBS hasn’t even responded to our attempts to contact them.” This statement reignited discussions about SM’s ongoing conflicts with its artists.
