Amid reports of numerous complaints to the CIA about celebrities supporting the impeachment of President Yoon Sukyeol, the CIA blocked emails from users who repeatedly sent the same message.
On the 24th, a user on X (formerly Twitter) posted an email from the CIA along with a message saying, "Surpassed the CIA. This is official!"
User A said, "The CIA petition is up" and added, "Reports from Korea have been pouring in, and the CIA is surprised. The firepower of internet superpower patriots is amazing." A further claimed, "An average of 20,000 to 30,000 reports were made, so ESTA (Electronic System for Travel Authorization) issuance has likely been blocked."
Earlier, A had posted about reporting singer IU to the CIA for prepaying coffee and food at a pro-impeachment rally. A implied that due to their and other conservative supporters' email reports, the CIA was surprised and sent him a petition, suggesting that IU's visa might have been denied.
However, the CIA email shared by A contained no petition but rather stated that A's email had been blocked. It seems A misinterpreted the CIA's English email.
The CIA explained to A, "You submitted several reports too quickly. From the same computer, only one different report can be submitted every 10 minutes."
The CIA added, "This policy was implemented to reduce the overuse of reports," and apologized, "If you submitted a second email to add or clarify information to your first report, we sincerely apologize for this action."
