ADOR has shared HYBE's position regarding the term 'New-I-LE' mentioned in HYBE's Music Industry Internal Report. The report, disclosed during a National Assembly inspection by the Culture, Sports, and Tourism Committee, included the phrase "New-I-LE' along with the statement "Discard 'New' and start afresh," which some interpreted as suggesting that HYBE intended to abandon NewJeans in favor of groups like LE SSERAFIM and ILLIT.
ADOR clarified that the 'I' in 'NEW-I-LE' does not refer to ILLIT but rather to IVE. They explained that the report was drafted around May 2023, prior to the airing of R U Next, which determined the debut lineup for ILLIT. Thus, the 'I' could not have referred to ILLIT.
Additionally, ADOR stated that "discard 'New'" does not imply abandoning NewJeans. Instead, it suggests moving away from categorizing LE SSERAFIM alongside NewJeans and IVE—both considered leaders of 4th-generation girl groups—so that LE SSERAFIM could establish its unique identity. The report aimed to propose strategies to strengthen LE SSERAFIM's position in areas like music charts, where it was seen to be lagging.
