[theqoo] IZM RATES CHOI YENA'S NEMONEMO

It sounds like a game soundtrack or a song from a Japanese anime. The fast BPM, chaotic synthesizer play, and harsh timbre make the lyrics barely audible, creating a disordered feel from start to finish. Amid the cluttered melodies and progressions, the actual sound is lost, with only sound effects floating around. If the goal was for the chaotic image of Choi Yena shown in the video to be realized in the sound, that’s a success, but if one thinks of this as music, it’s a misjudgment. There is no music in these 3 minutes and 30 seconds.

After the disbandment of IZ*ONE, Choi Yena colored her solo activities with rock and pop-punk, choosing a different path from her team members, but songs with weak melodies failed to trigger popularity. In the end, popular music is about melody. The fact that her older brother, Choi Seongmin, and her friend Zico participated in the lyrics of 'NEMONEMO' had no impact on the song.

original post: here

1. The song really drove me insane

2. I feel like it's a song that matches what kids find trendy lately, the trends are evolving

3. I felt like it was fine, it was conceptual. I hope she'll get another masterpiece like Smiley though

4. I liked it it was cute ㅋㅋ

5. She reminds me of a 2D Japanese idol, those who are meant for otakus? ㅠㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ I'm an otaku so I enjoyed it

6. The song was cute and it was good...

7. Yena's spectrum is quite wide so I don't think there's a specific concept for her. I listen to everything she releases... And she can pull off anything so I liked it !

8. She sounded like YOASOBI

9. Her songs are getting worse and worse.. It's not good to follow trends while forsaking on quality

10. If you think of her as Orange Caramel, it was a fun song
