During the National Assembly audit by the Environment and Labor Committee, it was revealed that HYBE had underreported its annual revenue, leading to a plastic waste disposal fee being charged at only half the correct amount. HYBE explained that this was not an intentional revenue reduction but a reporting error.

On the 24th, according to data from the Korea Environmental Corporation provided by Democratic Party lawmaker Park Jeong, it was discovered that HYBE had reported its revenue as 1,000 times lower than it actually was during the waste disposal fee reporting process, resulting in the failure to pay approximately 125.12 million won.

The corporation reported that HYBE emitted around 1,397 tons of plastic in 2023 from the production of albums and goods for its artists. According to HYBE's financial statements, the revenue for 2023 was approximately 2.1780882 trillion won. However, HYBE recorded last year's revenue in the corporation's system as only 2.17809 billion won, which was 1,000 times lower than the actual figure.

As a result, the waste disposal fee assessed for HYBE was only 149.64 million won, which was about half of the 275.83 million won that HYBE should have paid.

The corporation issued a notification on April 30 without realizing this, and HYBE completed the payment of the disposal fee on May 10. Ultimately, on October 11, five months after the fee was paid, the corporation sent a notice to HYBE demanding an additional payment of 125.12 million won.

In response, HYBE stated, "During the initial report in May 2024, there was a reporting error due to a unit mistake in some data, and the corporation calculated the fee based on that, which we paid in the same month. After the corporation identified the error, they issued an additional payment notice on October 11, and we completed the payment on time by October 22."
