[theqoo] FOR SOME REASON (?) BTS V'S SOLO ALBUM KEEPS BEING LEFT OUT BY BIG HIT

The article that came out today about V receiving a platinum certification for his solo album from last year at the Golden Disc Awards.

"BTS’s V has added another significant achievement in Japan with his solo album, released over a year ago. According to the Japan Record Association’s announcement on the 10th, V’s first solo album, Layover, which was released in September of last year, has surpassed 250,000 units in cumulative shipments as of September, earning him a ‘Platinum’ certification at the Golden Disc Awards. With this, Layover becomes V’s first work to receive a Platinum certification."

However, if you only read the article, it seems as if V achieved 250,000 sales over the past year to earn the certification. But in reality, V surpassed 250,000 sales in his first week, qualifying him for the award then.

To receive this certification, the company must apply for it directly.

That’s why two other members who sold over 250,000 copies last year received their certifications right away.

However, V only received his a year later, and the press release presented it as if it was an achievement made after a year of sales.

Recently, there has been some quiet chatter among BTS fans about this.

On BTS’s U.S. official shop, there are links to each member’s solo album cover and solo album sales pages, but only V’s hasn’t been updated and still shows the group album cover.

What’s even more ridiculous is that the banner at the top links 10 albums in order of release, so members with multiple releases and those with just one are mixed in.

V’s solo album easily fits within the top 10 in terms of release order, but it’s missing. However, his single released during the military hiatus is included.

This is something that’s come up recently.
Throughout the promotion period, the official accounts kept omitting news about V’s album release, canceled pre-order sales, didn’t release any content that could boost his first-week numbers, and despite him doing music shows, they didn’t even give fans a cheer guide for him. There were so many strange things happening.

I can’t understand why all of these issues keep happening specifically with V’s solo album.

(This isn’t to say that only V is being singled out, but it’s way more frequent with his solo album. The other members also faced some omissions, and V wasn’t immune to that. But when you compare V’s album Layover to other V-related content, the difference is staggering.)

For reference, the producer of V’s album was Min Heejin.

1. They didn’t even promote the album properly, and now they’re only certifying the record a year later. V was already a member who faced a lot of omissions, but considering this was his first solo album, it just feels too much. After seeing everything that’s been happening recently, I think I understand why. HYBE is really hopeless. I just wish he could leave HYBE.

2. HYBE is f*cking petty

3. ã… ã… ã…  Give us the documentary

4. I wish for a parting with HYBEã… ã…  HYBE is the devil

5. OP-ah, don't delete this post

6. I heard of V solo album by accident and was wondering why they never posted anything about it

7. It’s been going on for so long, with different timing for different members... some facing major issues while others have smaller things omitted. Whenever fans of individual members speak up, other fans say, “We deal with it too, stop making a fuss,” and it just leads to constant fighting between the solo fans. When we should be raising our voices together, we’re too busy holding each other back. It’s hard to tell if it’s the fandom or the company doing this, but the company really needs to start working honestly. You’ve profited enough. Respect the members, they’re in their 12th year now.

8. To be honest, because the company holds the group's IP, even if they hate the company, they won't be able to come out. There are a lot of idols who stay with their company on business terms...

9. The only solution is to leave HYBE

10. To the kids sucking up to HYBE, what is your reason?
