[theqoo] EVIDENCE SURFACED AT THE NATIONAL ASSEMBLY AUDIT REGARDING HYBE PUSHING ALBUM SALES

음반 밀어내기 (push out album sales) = Pushing physical album sales in such ways that "leftover stock" will be used for future events like fansigns, etc.

HYBE Selling our own albums with return conditions

-> HYBE Japan (Subsidiaries/Overseas Corporations) or UMJ (Distributor)
Disposal of physical albums: *Events like fan signings and lucky draws are used as bait, ultimately leading to all the album stock being exhausted by the fans.

-> Fandom: Irrational album purchases driven by a gambling mentality.
-> Remaining albums (environmental issues) = Garbage

- Regarding the new album, UM is conducting lessons through Weverse Company, but it seems that the additional 100,000 albums will be handled under a returnable condition after the June performance. However, it looks like the transportation and storage costs arising from the returns will be adjusted in future projects.
- We've agreed to send about 250,000 copies to Japan for now. However, this time we've included a return clause.

They're talking about warehouse storage fees (to stock the leftover stocks) and also sending 250,000 copies to Japan using the return clause as a bait

HYBE Artist Strategy Team:
t/n: email talks about additional amounts added to be considered "returnable", meaning they can push out those sales using a "return clause" and even if the albums are returned from the distributor, it will still count as a sale

9. So is this how BTS succeeded?ㅋ

10. ILLIT and TWS are clear examples of this

[theqoo] CLARIFYING HYBE'S ALBUM PUSH TACTICS

Conditional sale with return policy: This refers to an offer where magazines or books are ordered in large quantities for sale over a specified period, with the condition that unsold items (residual stock) can be returned to the issuer. This is commonly used in consignment sales for exports.

It’s definitely a workaround, but the way it’s pushed out is different from just "밀어내기 (push out)"; even if items are returned, the records of such sales aren't affected (t/n: they will still be marked as sold).

It’s just what people commonly refer to as “땡겨쓰기 (pull in).” (t/n: instead of using leftover stock for future events, the sales of the 1st week are inflated to "account for future sales" but in the present, without assurance that such sales will occur in the future)

Since it’s not an official term, people use “pulling in” and “pushing out” interchangeably, so it’s all used loosely.

HYBE Japan and others buy albums in bulk conditionally for returns, and that counts toward first-week sales. If there’s leftover stock, they dispose of it through fan sign events or lucky draws. This method is indeed shady and excessively inflates sales quickly, but it doesn’t make sense to say they take on the returned items themselves.

Neither Min Heejin or the auditor claimed this so I don't know why people are even spreading this
