[instiz] "SUPERNOVA" AESPA VS "MAGNETIC" ILLIT... THE GREAT CLASH ON DIGITAL CHARTS

Through "Supernova" and "Magnetic," aespa and ILLIT have established themselves as powerhouses in the music scene, and they will both make their comeback on the same day, heating up the K-pop industry.

First, aespa will release their fifth mini-album, "Whiplash," on October 21. The new album features the title track "Whiplash," along with six diverse songs that showcase aespa's unique musical color. Since their debut with "Black Mamba," aespa has created mega-hit songs with each release, including "Next Level," "Savage," "Spicy," and "Drama." Their title track "Supernova" from their first full album, released in May, hit the mark with the public.

"Supernova" achieved a record for the longest consecutive weeks at number one on Melon, the largest music site in Korea, in its 20-year history. Additionally, it topped other major domestic music sites upon release, becoming aespa's "super hit song."

In addition, aespa became million-sellers four times in a row, including ‘Girls’, ‘My World’, ‘Drama’, and ‘Armageddon’. Accordingly, expectations are high as to whether aespa will continue to show off their success through the new album following the 'Supernova' syndrome.

Meanwhile, ILLIT  will also make their first comeback on October 21, the same day as aespa. They will release their second mini-album, "I'll Like You." While their debut album, "Super Real Me," captured "my true self," this new release tells the second story of "me," who becomes fully immersed in the moment. Through this album, ILLIT will showcase their straightforward charm as they navigate their feelings for "you," seeking answers while being honest and direct.

Previously,  ILLIT garnered significant attention right after their debut with their album "Super Real Me," released in March. They targeted the public with their distinctive vivacity through the title track "Magnetic," capturing hearts with its addictive hook. As a result, "Magnetic" continues to perform well on major domestic music charts even six months later, enjoying long-lasting popularity.

It made history by entering the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 at number 91 on April 20, becoming the first K-pop debut song to do so, and it debuted at number 80 on the U.K. Official Singles Chart on April 5. Additionally, they won first place on all three major broadcasting music shows with their debut song and achieved a total of 12 music show wins, receiving an enthusiastic response.

With both aespa and ILLIT receiving much love for their previous works and becoming "digital powerhouses," there is significant interest in the friendly competition between the two groups.
