Debate followed the parody of LE SSERAFIM on 'SNL Korea.'
On the 7th broadcast of Coupang Play's 'SNL Korea Season 6,' host Kim Seong-kyun performed a parody as the idol group 'Kyun-K' which humorously mimicked LE SSERAFIM's Coachella performance. LE SSERAFIM had faced criticism for their lackluster live performance after appearing at Coachella, one of the largest music festivals in the U.S., in April.
In response, LE SSERAFIM's Kim Chaewon recently said at their comeback showcase, 'We were also very excited and had trouble controlling our pace, so we think there were many shortcomings in that part. We’ve realized that we have a lot more to learn and experience moving forward.'
The stage video spread widely, and LE SSERAFIM faced severe public criticism. However, as malicious comments reached an intolerable level, LE SSERAFIM's agency, Source Music, announced in June that they would take legal action.
Source Music stated in a notice, 'We have previously informed you that the indiscriminate malicious posts directed at LE SSERAFIM have reached a very serious level, and we will be strengthening our legal response to protect the artists' rights.'
Additionally, 'Kyun-K' also parodied the controversy surrounding derogatory comments about ZEROBASEONE member Kim Ji-woong.
Earlier, Kim Jiwoong was embroiled in controversy when claims emerged online that he used profanity during a video call fan sign event in January.
As the controversy grew, his then-agency Wake One released voice analysis results to fully refute the claims. Kim Ji-woong, who had remained silent, also expressed his feelings, saying, 'I have felt heavy-hearted throughout. I’m sorry for making the fans, who always supported me unconditionally and believed in me, worry.'
However, despite the agency's and Kim Jiwoong's explanations, the fans' sentiments remained cold. Some fans even raised their voices, demanding his departure.
In response to 'SNL Korea’s' parody of the incident, some netizens left positive comments such as 'It’s satire' and 'It’s funny,' while others criticized it, saying 'It seems mixed with mockery' and 'Fans might be upset.'
