[theqoo] "STANDING ALONE" JENNIE, TRADEMARKS HER OWN ENGLISH NAME "JENNIE RUBY JANE"

Jennie (28), a member of the girl group BLACKPINK who recently embarked on a solo career after leaving the prominent Korean entertainment agency YG Entertainment, has obtained the trademark rights to her English name.

According to Star News on the 2nd, Jennie registered the trademark for her English name, "JENNIE RUBY JANE," last month. She had filed for the trademark with the Korean Intellectual Property Office in January of last year. After completing the examination, the office published the application for a two-month opposition period in April, and recently made the registration decision.

Jennie's real name is Kim Jennie. She has previously revealed on a variety show that she chose a purely Korean name. Having studied in New Zealand during her childhood, she also has the name "JENNIE RUBY JANE."

During her appearance in the American HBO drama "The Idol," which aired from June to July last year, she used the name "JENNIE RUBY JANE" instead of her stage name "Jennie." "The Idol" was Jennie's first acting challenge, and she was invited to the Cannes Film Festival as an actor in the show.

Jennie's personal Instagram and YouTube accounts also use "JENNIE RUBY JANE." This highlights her special attachment to the name. Jennie has applied for trademark rights to this name not only in South Korea but also in the United States.

Meanwhile, Jennie's exclusive contract with YG Entertainment, which she has been associated with since her trainee days, expired in August of last year. Subsequently, she founded her own independent label, "ODD ATELIER," at the end of that year and embarked on her solo career. She has only maintained a contract with YG Entertainment for BLACKPINK group activities.
