[theqoo] THE RELEASE OF HYBE'S AMERICAN GROUP DOCUMENTARY REVEALED SOME SMALL CONFLICTS BETWEEN THE MEMBERS

"Three years ago, HYBE began preparing for an American girl group by gathering trainees from around the world and putting them in dorms, where they were rigorously trained in the Korean style. Like Korean trainees, they had classes for 9 hours a day, practiced late into the night, and were subject to monthly evaluations, which could result in being sent home.

The 14 American trainees spent two years under this system, living together in the dorms and forming close bonds, almost like family.

Then, a few months before entering the debut survival competition, Manon joined the group."

"Wow it was over the moment Manon came in the 1st ep. of Katseye's documentary. I got goosebumps"

The casting director discovered Manon on Instagram and reached out to her via DM, saying that they thought she looked like an angel at first sight.
However, unlike the other trainees who had been training hard, Manon had no prior experience in dance or vocals and consistently ranked last in the monthly evaluations.

Before being cast, Manon didn't know much about K-pop or the intense training system. Seeing how the other trainees were so far ahead of her while she consistently ranked last, she began to feel like her efforts wouldn’t make much difference. Being from Switzerland, where work-life balance and family are highly valued, she would sometimes break curfew to have dinner with her family. If she felt her ankle was hurting or that she was overexerting herself while dancing, she wouldn't hesitate to skip classes.

"I'm not going to practice today"

And once she joined the survival, things changed
Manon’s visuals quickly became a hot topic among K-pop fans, and she instantly became a strong contender for debut.

In the sketch of HYBE's debut group, the second-to-last person is clearly Manon.

And then, during the monthly evaluations, Adela, who had been consistently at the top due to her outstanding skills, ended up in the last place. This caused a major blow to the trainees who had worked tirelessly to improve their skills, leading to more stress and resentment towards Manon.

The resentment towards Manon grew even stronger when Adela, who had consistently been in the top ranks and lived together with the other trainees while training extensively, was eliminated.

Manon: Sophia just gave me the dirtiest look on the planet

Once Manon realized that she was a strong candidate for debut, she started to have a genuine desire to work hard and attempted to resolve conflicts with the other trainees. She made efforts to show her commitment by expressing her intention to work diligently.

The conflicts that were shown in the documentary were eventually resolved. Currently, the debut members are reportedly happy and have moved past any previous issues.

1. Manon is f*cking pretty

2. The same type of situation occurred with Produce 101 series and the survival show for the group before HYBE. It seems to be a recurring issue not unique to HYBE but it's just a situation that happens with every survival show
