HYBE announced on the 24th that they have nominated Lee Jaesang, currently Chief Strategy Officer (CSO), as the successor to Park Jiwon, the CEO.
HYBE plans to formally appoint this nominee as CEO after obtaining approval at a future shareholder meeting and board meeting.
HYBE explained that they had nominated Lee Jaesang early on as the suitable candidate to lead their upcoming corporate strategy 'HYBE 2.0', and have been conducting a leadership transition project since earlier this year.
Lee Jaesang, the CEO nominee, graduated from Yonsei University and joined Big Hit Entertainment, the predecessor of HYBE, in 2018, after working at global management consulting firm Monitor Group, Hyundai Motor Company, and Google.
Subsequently, he served roles including Chief Innovation Growth Officer (CIGO) at Big Hit Entertainment, CSO at HYBE, COO of HYBE America, and Representative of HYBE America, playing a central role in Hive's business strategy and investments. During CEO Park's tenure, HYBE succeeded in listing on the Korea Exchange in October 2020 and expanded its presence by acquiring Itaewon Holdings, home to global pop stars Justin Bieber and Ariana Grande in 2021. Additionally, last year, they broadened their business scope beyond K-pop by acquiring U.S. hip-hop label QC Media Holdings and Latin music company Agile Music.
