If I had been baking/reading/watching a movie...

Then I'd tell them "I watched a movie!ㅋㅋ"

But actually, I just stayed home didn't I?

I (stayed) home.

That itself is an activity/verb.

The fact that I was home.

That is the thing that I did during the weekend"
