Newer gens you can count on one hand how many have built or has a potential for a sustainable long-term career. Mijoo seems like the only one who has really built a variety career with many regular hosting roles. There's others like Mimi who popped off from Earth Arcade, but so far seems more like a spark than anything else since it's more of a seasonal thing and not like she's got other regular roles like Mijoo does with weekly Hangout with Yoo, and other reality show host.
Acting side of things, from the top groups, it's night and day comparing with Twice, BP or RV to SNSD. The only one who's really tried acting with multiple projects now is Joy but it's been a complete disaster. Yeri really only has two dramas so far, and they're webdramas more than anything. It's the other girl groups that really has found success like Bona, Yeonwoo, and especially IOI who has many actresses like Sejeong, Mina, Chaeyeon, Doyeon, Sohye, Nayoung, Yoojung etc.
Why is it there's such a startling difference? If there are opportunities for idols to get into acting and long-term variety roles, 100% they will take it, because at the end of the day, it's the primary way to stay in the public eye and reach large audiences. Are the opportunities not there anymore with general public people losing interest in idols?
