[PC stories/KPOP takes] HOW MANY IDOLS DO YOU LIKE BECAUSE OF THEIR WORLDVIEWS?

I have seen many people complain about k-pop groups being too focused on their universes and lore. I recently started thinking the same thing myself: These are not necessary and they don't do a good job with them anyway. What is the point? However, recently I realized that the majority of k-pop groups I would consider myself a fan of have some kind of universe, even in a minor way. For example, having lore within their MVs or having connections between their different albums.

Second, I realized that there are quite a few k-pop groups that I like only or almost only because of their worldview or universe, not just their concepts, but because I like the lore behind it or because I like the connections between their songs. If they did not have formal lore or a story connecting their songs, I would not be as interested in them and I would definitely not be a fan of them.

Finally, I also realized that merely having a song, concepts, dances, and music videos is already a simple form of a "story universe" or narrative. If you release music, aspects of perceived "story" already exist in the songs or albums, even when you don't intend to tell a detailed story with it. Things which people tend to actually call a "storyline", "universe", or "worldview" (like short films, symbolic objects in MVs, or connections between MVs) are just more formal and effective ways of creating a narrative. However, my point is that before any of these things, there were already perceived stories in things like individual music videos, the ordering of songs in an album, or album trilogies. Things we would classify as lore or universes are just a more formal continuation of what has existed for a long time.

So, before I thought that worldviews in k-pop were kind of pointless. But I recently realized that they account for a lot of my interest in certain k-pop groups, so they are a worthwhile investment for those groups.

I am wondering for everyone else, how many k-pop groups that you consider yourself a fan of have formal universes, and then how many of those groups are you a fan of mainly because of those universes? You can think of which groups or the percentage of groups.
