Super Junior's Kyuhyun announced yesterday (August 7) that he is leaving SM Entertainment and moving to Antenna. Antenna said, "We recently signed an exclusive contract with Kyuhyun, who is the main vocalist of Super Junior, an emotional balladeer, and an active member of various entertainment programs. We will actively support Kyuhyun's wide range of activities in various ways, and we ask for your support as he embarks on a new beginning." The move came as a surprise to many, as Kyuhyun had been a leading K-pop member for SM for 17 years.
Girls' Generation's Sunny also announced today (August 8) that she is leaving SM Entertainment after 16 years. Sunny expressed her gratitude for the 16th anniversary of Girls' Generation's debut, saying, "I would like to thank all the managers who have worked together and suffered through the 16 years of our entertainment career, and all the employees who have helped us provide positive energy to many people through various stages and contents with good music and good appearances." She added, "I will try to find my courage and see myself in a different light in a new environment."
Baekhyun also weighed in during a live broadcast today (August 8). Baekhyun, who has been in the news recently for his dispute with SM, said, "I have a very good relationship with SM through an amicable settlement and modification, and we are supporting each other." Baekhyun also revealed that he will continue his solo career by running his own company. "I'm going to run my own company, and I'm going to be in SM," Baekhyun said, adding that he won't turn a blind eye to anything as a producer. His announcement came as a surprise to fans, as Baekhyun has been with SM for a long time, since 2012.
