[theqoo] JEON SOMI'S REP, ACKNOWLEDGES 'SUSPICIONS OF TRACING', "DELETES CONTROVERSIAL SCENE FROM MV"

THEBLACKLABEL has issued a formal apology in response to allegations that part of Jeon Somi’s new music video was plagiarized.

Earlier this week, Jeon Somi made her long-awaited comeback with the new mini album “GAME PLAN” and its title track “Fast Forward” on August 7.

Soon afterwards, some noticed similarities between an animated character in the “Fast Forward” music video and the famous manga artist Rumiko Takahashi’s “Urusei Yatsura” series, leading to allegations that the artwork in the music video had been traced (copied directly from another work).

On August 9, THEBLACKLABEL responded with the following statement:

Hello.
This is THEBLACKLABEL.

After the release of the music video for “Fast Forward,” the title track of Jeon Somi’s EP, we came across the news that the animated character that appears in the video resembles a character in another work. We immediately discussed the situation, and we have decided to delete or edit the scene in question.

We plan to quickly switch the scene in question and take all measures possible.

We sincerely apologize for the fact that our agency did not more carefully look over the [production] and therefore gave you cause for concern.

In the future, we will be more careful in order to prevent the kind of incident described above from happening again.

Thank you.

1. So they didn't do anything more after deleting that scene?

2. They drew it way too similar to claim that they didn't know
3. But this is seriously impressiveã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ this isn't even from some unknown artist but the artist of Ranma and Inuyashaã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹

4. But they already admitted to everything, apologized and deleted it. What more do you want?

5. The more you bash them, the more conscious of copyright they'll be. If other creators see you swearing so much, won't they be careful in the future? What "more" do we want? They should get criticized

6. Isn't it just ridiculous for thhem to just say sorry and then delete it? It's the artist's work, it's their property.

7. If they don't get caught, they'll just keep it as is and if they get caught, they'll just delete it~~~

8. Seeing the comments shielding them here, it's as if they didn't even need to apologize

9. So they didn't buy the drawing. But the scene is still on their TikTok

10. I think that the fact that they apologized and deleted it was a good way to deal with it though
